Freshcare has introduced QR codes to all of its certificates across all of its standards to increase security and provide more information.
The codes will be embedded into the certificate to protect against misuse and minimise the ability to fraudulently alter data; as part of Freshcare’s efforts to strengthen the trust of the certification process in global supply chains.
Jane Siebum, chief executive of Freshcare, said it would allow users to access real-time, up-to-date information on a business’s certification at the click of a button.
“We are continually looking at ways to add value to our participating businesses and members, particularly through emerging technologies that provide efficiency savings in terms of time and resources,” said Diebum.
“We are thrilled to be one of the first to bring this technology to our certified businesses and increase the speed and ease at which the supply chain can access and verify the latest Freshcare certification information.”
Each certificate will have its own unique QR code relevant to the standard held with Freshcare. The linked data will include the latest certification and audit details, number and location of sites, and any notifiable changes to the business’s status.
“Introducing QR codes to Freshcare’s certification process does not add any additional cost, it simply ensures the supply chain can be confident that they have the latest and most accurate certification information,” said Siebum.
Freshcare certified businesses will start to receive the QR coded certificates from 1 March.
