Australian vegetable grower-marketerFlavorite has its eyes on exporting to Japan and China within two years thanks to a new grant from the Victorian government.
Under the Food Source Victoria (FSV) programme, Flavorite will receive A$25,000 to boost its exports, which currently account for around 8 per cent of its tomato, capsicum, cucumber ad eggplant sales.
Flavorite national business manager Samuel Kisvarda said the grant would go a long way into getting the company’s glasshouse-grown produce into Japan and China.
The company will use the grant to develop an export strategy assessing consumer drivers, packaging, certification requirements and competitors in those export markets.
Flavorite operates six greenhouses across Victoria, and is investing in a 4.3ha glasshouse to produce hydroponic tomatoes and other vegetables in Gippsland.
