Perfection Fresh founder passes away surrounded by family, leaving behind a significant legacy
Antonio Simonetta founder of leading Australian fresh produce company Perfection Fresh has died aged 86. A statement released by the family said Simonetta peacefully departed on 18 December surrounded by family.
“It is with deep sorrow that we, the Simonetta family, share the news of the passing of our family patriarch and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Antonio Simonetta,” the family said.
“At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife Mary, his children Michael, Rosemary, Vincent and John, as well as their spouses and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Born in Italy, he and his family immigrated to Australia in 1955.
“We will mourn his loss and lovingly remember him as a remarkable man who was deeply devoted to his family, friends and business. His constant presence was a source of love, wisdom, and strength for our family and those around him.”
Simonetta founded Perfection Fresh in 1978, which has grown to become one of Australia’s country’s largest private fresh fruit and vegetable producers, employing around 2,000 people.
The family said Simonetta left behind an incredible legacy and thanked the industry for the support it had received.
”As a family, we appreciate the support and love from friends, business associates, employees and well-wishers during this difficult time. We find comfort in the memories and love that we shared with him and the wonderful impact he had on our lives and the lives of others that he touched,” the family said.
