Aldi Australia has announced plans to overhaul its fresh produce procurement and in-store displays.
The German-headquarter discounter will roll out a new centralised buying model for fresh fruit and vegetables, and look to establish longer-term flexible agreements with its suppliers.
“To streamline our buying processes and leverage our expertise, we will continue to work with local produce growers within each state, to ensure the freshest possible fruit and vegetables at the best prices,” the company said in a statement released 13 September..
Freshness and low-prices will be key, with Aldi also investing in broader ranges of fresh produce in-store and modernising its produce displays.
“Over the past 18 months, Aldi has been trialing a number of in-store innovations to improve the shopping experience for our customers,” an Aldi Australia spokesperson said. “We look forward to helping our customers experience Aldi’s expanding fresh produce offering and showing them just how much they can save on high-quality Australian grown fruit and vegetables.”
Aldi Australia has continued to expand across Australia since opening its first store in 2001, with more than 400 stores along the East Coast, South Australia and Western Australia.
