Zim Integrated Shipping Services announced last week that it would co-operate with four global shipping companies, Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica (CCNI), Hanjin Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd and Wanhai Lines, for the service between Asia and South America's east coast via South Africa, according to Port2Port.

The joint operation will reportedly commence in April 2010, serving Korea, central and southern China, Singapore, South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.

The new weekly service will include 11 vessels of 4,200 TEU, with Hanjin and Zim deploying three container vessels each, CCNI and Wanhai two vessels each and Hapag-Lloyd one.
