Fruit growers in the Spanish province of Zaragoza have joined national fresh produce industry federation Fepex.
The river Ebro agri-business association, Aemde, signed up to Fepex last week to give its 430 members in the north-eastern Spanish province better representation.
Most of its members are fruit growers, with apples, peaches, cherries and pears the main lines.
Zaragoza is one of three provinces in the region of Aragon, which is significant producer of Spanish stonefruit and topfruit.
Last year sendings of nectarines lead the charge from the region and totalled almost 50,000 tonnes followed by peaches with some 35,000 tonnes exported.
The addition of Aemde gives Fepex greater presence among deciduous fruit growers in Spain and brings its total number of member associations to 35.
