Exports of Indian tables grape have so far increased by 63.7 per cent this season, compared to the same period last year.
From January to May India exported around 2,930 containers (36,888 tonnes) of grapes, whereas in the corresponding period last year it sent 1,814 containers, according to a report by the Times of India.
Exports were sent almost exclusively to Europe with the Netherlands taking the majority, around 1,694 containers. Other countries which took notable volumes were: the UK with 744 containers, Sweden with 176 containers, Germany with 131 containers, Denmark with 55 containers, Finland with 50 containers and Norway with 38 containers, according to figures from India’s Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority.
