Leading Russian retail group X5 has added a new convenience store format to its range, launched under its Perekrestok Express convenience banner.
According to Planet Retail, the new outlets have smaller sales areas than existing outlets, ranging from 70-200m2, with products on sales including ready meals, convenience foods and fresh bakery products.
The retailer currently operates four company-owned stores in Moscow but plans to expand the network through franchising, Planet Retail reported.
