Last week's 26th annual WUWM (World Union of Wholesale Markets) Congress, held in the Danish city of Copenhagen, saw the presentation of major awards to wholesale markets in Germany, Australia, South Korea and the UK for their efforts over the past year in terms of innovation, sustainability and community support.
The awards were handed out during a gala dinner at Copenhagen City Hall following the first day of the congress, which took place at the Danish Society of Engineers Conference Center (IDA) and attracted some 150 delegates from 30 countries worldwide.
The prize for Market Innovation went to Germany's Hamburg Wholesale Market, while the award for Community Support went to Garak Market in Seoul, South Korea.
Meanwhile, the prize for Environmental Sustainability went to Sydney Market in Australia, with London's Spitalfield Market receiving a special recommendation in this category.
