US-based Wish Farms has announced the extension of its berry programme for the upcoming season, with the grower-supplier now offering conventional and organic varieties of blackberries.
In an effort to respond to common customer requests to extend its berry programme, Wish Farms is making a 'natural transition' to broaden the types of berries it offers.
“Blackberries are the perfect complement to our year-round berry programme,” said Gary Wishnatzki, owner of Wish Farms. “In just one phone call, customers can now choose to order an assortment of berries.”
The Mexican blackberry season will span from the beginning of October to the end of May and will segue into the domestic season when blackberries from Georgia, North Carolina and California will be available mid-May through September.
“Growers are excited to work with the Wish Farms brand,” said Jose Saca, director of blackberry and raspberry operations at Wish Farms. “We are partnering with the best growers for quality, and we hold ourselves to the highest food safety standards with all fruit coming through one of our Wish Farms facilities to be inspected by our quality control team.”
All-new this year is the elongated blackberry clamshell. Similar to the existing raspberry 12-ounce flat pack, this elongated clamshell will provide a cleaner look across the berry case, Wish Farms said.
To complete the berry patch, Wish Farms is projecting a long-term goal to establish a year-round raspberry programme.
