Wal-Mart de Mexico (Walmex) has revealed that its profit increased by 15 per cent in the third quarter of the year, the highest increase so far in 2011.

Net income grew to US$360m through the three-month period ended September, Walmex said, up from the US$318m recorded last year.

In its earnings report, Walmex noted that group revenues climbed by 11 per cent in the third quarter, up to US$6.72m from US$6.15bn.

The group has opened 215 stores in Mexico so far this year, and 43 across its Central American operations.
