Walmart is preparing to open ten stores in South Florida as part of a plan to open new and expanded outlets across the US.
The US retail behemoth is also expanding five existing outlets – in Cooper City, Hallandale Beach, Sunrise, Kendall and Doral – to include full-service fresh fruit and vegetables.
The new Supercenters will be between 92,000ft2 and 182,00ft2, smaller than the usual 185,000ft2 Supercenter format, and are all scheduled to open by the end of 2013.
Some of the stores will be purpose-built, but others will take over space left behind by other retailers.
Walmart already has 20 stores of different sizes in South Florida and 200 across the state as a whole.
