David Jones Waitrose

UK food retailer Waitrose has confirmed that David Jones, currently divisional registrar at parent group John Lewis, will take up the role of supply chain director at the end of August.

Mr Jones takes the place of the retailer’s previous supply chain director, Mark Williamson, who became commercial director of the company in June.

Mr Williamson had replaced Richard Hodgson, who went to Morrisons, a retailer in a period of flux following the appointment of new chief executive officer Dalton Philips this year.

Mr Jones became head of buying services at John Lewis in 2002 before moving to the corporate office as deputy partners’ counsellor in 2005, a key role within the democratic structure of the business.

He moved to Waitrose in 2007 as a director of buying for 18 months before moving to his current role.

MarkPrice, managing director of Waitrose said: “David’s deep understanding of our business and wide experience at senior level makes him ideally suited to this role. I am delighted that, once again, we have been ableto draw on our own talent pool to fill this important position.”
