The Port of Los Angeles has released its August 2013 cargo volumes, revealing that overall volumes came to 709,675 TEUs.
This marked the second consecutive month that volumes exceeded 700,000 TEUs, while volumes inched up less than 1 per cent when compared with August 2012.
Imports edged downward by 1.41 per cent, from 360,762 TEUs in August 2012 to 355,682 TEUs, while exports decreased 3.84 per cent to 158,484 TEUs.
Total loaded imports and exports for August decreased 2.17 per cent, from 525,581 TEUs to 514,167 TEUs.
Factoring in empties, which increased 7.96 per cent year-over-year, overall August 2013 volumes 0.4 per cent.
