In the US, Vision Import Group is transitioning from its Mexican lemon campaign to its Spanish programme, the fourth consecutive year that it has brought Spain-grown lemons into the US.
According to Donald Souther, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at the company, Spanish lemons have been 'a great addition' to Vision's Mexican lemon programme, helping customers enjoy a consistent flow of quality product as production shifts from growing areas.
'Experience has been a large factor in helping to secure and grow these types of European opportunities,' he explained. 'Spain continues to be one of the major suppliers of lemons to Europe, so to be able to secure product to come to the United States has become a sense of pride. It helps continue our Vision Companies 'Direct Link to the Grower' company tag line.'
Raul Millan, executive vice-president for Vision Import Group, noted that the Spanish lemon programme would run through until the end of May.
'This is our fourth consecutive season importing from Spain, initial quality on our first few containers has been excellent and our customers have had a smooth transition from our Mexican programme to Spanish lemons,' he added. 'We are currently packing in 15kg carton boxes, in the near future we will also be offering 18kg cartons.'
