Dutch fresh produce marketing organisation Door Partners recorded a 26 per cent annual increase in sales to €266m during 2015, according to new figures reported by Fruchthandel Magazine.
The group revealed that its members’ total planted area for greenhouse vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and aubergines had also risen, from 370ha in 2014 to around 400ha last year.
That figure is already understand to be upwards of 460ha as the group heads into 2016.
Those members, which together form the Door co-operative that owns Door Partners, say they saw an encouraging recovery in prices for greenhouse vegetables, especially in the second half of the year.
Door has enjoyed significant growth since its inception over the past few years, with a number of growers opting to join the group from other more established co-operative and marketing organisations.
