Vanguard International has announced new appointments to its team at Produce Packing in Wapato, Washington.
Brian Birdsall will join as president of Pride Packing with Byron Ihnen as vice president of marketing and sales. Brett Calhoun will continue as Pride’s general manager and vice president of Washington Farming Operations.
Birdsall brings more than 30 years of experience in the Washington State fruit industry, while Ihnen previously held roles at Yakima Fresh, PAC Marketing and Hansen Fruit.
“With over nearly five decades between them, Brian and Byron have admirable operational and commercial accomplishments, and I know they will drive great success for our company, employees, and customers alongside Brett,” said Craig Stauffer, CEO Vanguard, in a company statement released 18 May. “They have proven to be successful and trusted leaders, and I could not be more pleased about their appointments at this important time.”
Vanguard International acquired the Washington State pear, apple and stonefruit grower-packer earlier this month, adding Pride Packing to its expanding portfolio of produce businesses.
