Having completed construction of a new 9,000m2 building dedicated to the production of fresh-cut salads, French cooperative Val Nantais has revealed that volumes should increase by approximately 30 per cent within a year.
From now until the end of 2009, more than 4,000 tonnes of pre-packaged lamb’s lettuce, lettuce hearts, mixed salad and baby lettuce will be produced.
Within two or three years, according to Val Nantais, a second production line should increase production capacity to some 10,000 tonnes.
