US agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack has used this week's agricultural visit to Latin America to create a new Binational Blueberry Council with Peru (USPBC), to encourage cooperation, promotion, trade and investment in the sector.
According to Andina, this board will enable both nations to obtain the required permissions to build access opportunities in new markets.
'Bilateral trade will be improved by supporting Peru-US blueberries' import and export methods,' said Miguel Bentin, president of the Peruvian Blueberry Producers Association and the new co-chairman of USPBC.
