The Spanish region of Valencia is forecast to ship some 61,000 tonnes of clementines to the US market during the 2012/13 campaign, according to the regional government.
Government delegate Paula Sánchez de Léon confirmed the news after meeting with citrus industry representatives and attending the loading of one of the first ships of the season destined for the US at the Port of Castellón, Europa Press reported.
If the forecast is accurate, it will mean an increase in exports of 28 per cent on the previous campaign, matching volumes seen two years ago.
