Exports of avocados from Mexico to the US hit a new high in 2011/12, with some 782m lbs of produce shipped during the campaign.
This represented an increase of 26 per cent on the 620m lbs exported in 2010/11, and an increase of 15 per cent on the previous record season of 2008/09, Michoacan avocado export group APEAM told The Packer.
Spokeswoman Mairim Martinez told the publication that APEAM is expecting another record campaign next year, with some 826m lbs expected to be shipped to the US, an increase on the new record of 6 per cent.
