The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has announced that it has received two separate import requests from Israel and Taiwan.

According to APHIS, Israel has requested that the US allows fresh kumquat to be imported into the country, while the government of Taiwan has asked the US to green-light the importation of fresh guava.

As a result of the requests, the USDA-APHIS Center for Plant Health Science and Technology has drafted two separate pathway-initiated risk analyses.

Both draft documents are available for 30 days for stakeholders to review and provide comments, closing on 3 May 2013.

Access the two documents and view instructions for submitting comments on the APHIS Plant Import Information web page here.
