Andrew Williamson Fresh Produce has expanded its grape-tomato recall to cover the entire US and Canada after finding out that its distributors had resold the product outside the original 18 states, but there are still no illnesses linked to its tomatoes.
The recall covers one lot of organic grape tomatoes sold under the Limited Edition and Fresh & Easy labels.
The clamshell containers also have a label that states that the item is a 'Product of Mexico'.
One random sample of its tomatoes collected by the US Department of Agriculture in Michigan tested positive for salmonella.
No illnesses have been linked to the product, which was distributed to 18 US states and two Canadian provinces in 10.5oz and 7oz clam-shell containers.
Consumers are advised to discard such produce and retailers are encouraged to check inventories and store shelves to ensure it is no longer available to buy
