Univeg stand Fruit Logistica

International fresh produce company Univeg is set to feature prominently at next month's Fruit Logistica trade fair in Berlin, with the head of its fruit and vegetable division revealing plans to underline the group's close ties with sources of supply.

This year, the company's sizeable stand will turn the spotlight on the kind of service it provides to its customers and the close links it enjoys with its production areas.

According to Francis Kint, chief executive officer of Univeg's Fruit & Vegetables business unit, the principal slogan adorning the group’s 504m2 stand will be 'Univeg, your direct connection to the field'.

Univeg says it plans to use the event to showcase its ability to have both a global presence and local know-how.

The group equally wants to emphasise its involvement in strategic production areas worldwide, thereby confirming its capacity to manage and streamline complex supply chains for fruit and vegetables.

According to Mr Kint, the stand's theme recognises the ever-increasing demands requested by large retailers, which remain intent on increasing their involvement in the growing conditions and supply chain history of the produce they sell to their customers.

Univeg, he says, will reveal how such retailers can be a valuable partner in making this a reality.

'We consider the annual Fruit Logistica exhibition in Berlin to be a highlight of the industry's business calendar,' he says. 'At Univeg everything is driven by our customers, and this event offers a wonderful forum to engage directly with them, to understand their strategy for the fruit and vegetable category and to use a specific mix of our capabilities to partner with them to achieve their individual goals.'

He adds: 'As a global leader in the industry, our aim is to effectively communicate the company's global presence, its desire to work towards sustainable supply solutions, and to promote the various technologies currently in use in the areas of quality management, food safety and traceability.'
