Univeg has apparently signalled its intention to expand its business in Russia with the signing of a long-term lease agreement on a major new distribution and logistics centre just south of the country's capital city Moscow.
Through its Moscow-based subsidiary Univeg Logistics Russia, which was founded at the end of 2005 to provide fresh fruit and vegetable logistics services to national and international retail groups in Russia, Univeg has reportedly leased 5,000m2 at the Trilogy Park Tomilino.
Univeg is expected to move its Russian head office to the centre and, subject to market developments, may lease further units at the industrial park in due course.
According to Russian real estate website Realto.ru, negotiations between Univeg and the facility's owner Investment Trust over the possible lease of a further 14,000m2 are continuing.
Trilogy Park Tomilino is one of the country's largest logistics complexes and is located around 7km south of Moscow along the Novoryazanskoye highway.
'The arrival of Univeg in Trilogy Park Tomilino once again confirms the high demand for Class A warehouse premises in the Moscow region,' commented Alexander Ostapishin, the complex's general director.
Univeg Logistics Russia was founded in November 2005. Its existing warehouse is located in Moscow (Novokosino) and it began providing logistic activities in February 2006.
The current centre offers 9,400m2 of temperature-controlled warehouse and can handle some 1,000-1,500 pallets per day.
