Leading fresh produce supplier Univeg has announced plans to implement a new strategic plan aimed at achieving further growth for its business operations in Argentina.
The strategic plan, outlined to employees of subsidiary and leading topfruit supplier Expofrut at the end of last week, will continue to drive business operations at the division towards greater efficiency and customer focus.
Now headed by Cristian Skou and vice-president Carlos Resio, the group is keen to reposition itself on the international produce market and to that end appointed a new marketing team towards the end of last year comprising well-known and experienced executives, including commercial director Adolfo Storni (formerly of citrus giant San Miguel), Juan 'Pancho' Verel (Kleppe), Enrique Allende (Moño Azul) and Dafne Anghelidis (Maersk).
Fruitnet.com understands that the ongoing restructuring of the Expofrut business, which follows the departure of several long-standing directors last year, will eventually result in the company eventually becoming known exclusively as Univeg Argentina.
'For the employees, customers and suppliers, there are no changes to the way business is being done,' said a spokesperson for Univeg. 'This plan reflects the great importance the Argentinean operation, Expofrut, has within the Univeg group and focuses on generating value for its customers.'
Expofrut is Univeg's largest Latin American subsidiary, exporting around 90 per cent of its total production to markets including Europe, North America and the Middle East, as well as newer outlets like Russia, Asia and Latin America itself.
