Univeg Katopé France last week opened its new operations centre at Rungis International Market in Paris, a sign that the company continues to view the development of its French business as a primary source of growth.
The opening ceremony was reportedly held in the presence of Marc Spielrein, chairman of Rungis Market; Nicolas Morinière, managing director of the French operations of Univeg; Theo de Kool, CEO of the Univeg group; and regional government officials.
The new centre has a floor surface of 7,000m2 and features a warehouse area, a ripening store, a packaging station, a quality laboratory and 1,500m2 of offices.
The building is equipped with the latest technology, the company said, ensuring major energy savings while still meeting the strictest demands.
“This tool, with a total cost of €12m, shows that Univeg Katopé France is willing to grow in France, as well as providing the means for the company to meet its ambitious growth targets,' said Francis Kint, the group's CEO for fruits & vegetables. 'Due to its size and its functionality, this new tool will help develop the Univeg business model in France, considerably expanding the services we offer our customers.”
