European fresh produce group Univeg has announced the appointment of Rudi De Becker as member of its board of directors, replacing Robert-Jan Van Ogtrop.
Mr De Becker is also an independent director of Fabory, Arseus and Océ. From 2004 to 2008 he was CEO of Hagemeyer, and from 2001 to 2003 was member of the board of directors of Buhrmann (currently Corporate Express), having served on the executive board of Samas Group N.V. from 1998 to 2000.
Hein Deprez, chief executive of the Univeg group of companies, weclomed the appointment.
'We are pleased that Rudi De Becker has joined our board of directors. Thanks to his worldwide experience and management competencies he can make a telling contribution to the activities of the board,' he said.
He continued: 'As member of the board he is well positioned to support Univeg's vision to continuously develop our long-lasting, sustainable relationships with our retailers in managing daily fresh produce supply.'
Mr De Becker was born in 1946 in Brugge (Belgium), has a degree in Economic Sciences and has a postgraduate degree in Marketing and Distribution from the University of Ghent, Belgium.
In the past, he has also held senior management positions at Black & Decker, Xerox and Bekaert, and has experience of management consulting with Booz, Allen Hamilton and McKinsey.
