US produce industry trade group United Fresh Produce Association is to reshuffle its board leadership personnel with a range of newly nominated officers and directors, who will step into their roles at the organisation's 20 April meeting.

Assuming the position of chairman of the board is Jim Lemke, senior vice-president of C.H. Robinson Worldwide, who boasts considerable experience working in transportation, logistics, produce commodity sales and account management, and serves on the board for the Produce for Better Health Foundation.

Steffanie Smith, CEO of River Point Farms, has been nominated as chairman-elect, while current chairman Tom Lovelace of McEntire Produce will take on the role of Immediate past chairman, remaining on both the board and the executive committee. Michael Cavallero will continue to serve as secretary-treasurer.

Nominated to the United Fresh board for a two-year term are Jan Berk of San Miguel Produce, John Chrosniak of DuPont Crop Protection, Ana Hooper of Darden Restaurants, Lorri Koster of Mann Packing Company, David Krause of Paramount Citrus Association and Jackson Woodward of Horton Fruit Company.

Concluding their services with the group in April are Emanuel Lazopolous, the senior vice-president at Del Monte Fresh Produce who served as chairman of the board in 2007-08,and Michael Wootton of Sunkist Growers.

'I'd like to personally thank those leaders who are concluding their service at this meeting, said group president Tom Stenzel. 'They have contributed greatly to our industry's success in so may ways, and we appreciate the time and resources they have given to serve our industry.'
