Food Safety

The US-based International Mango Organization (IMO) and BioShield Services have entered into a partnership to develop an Indoor Air and Surface Quality (IASQ) protocol for the fresh produce industry.

In a press release, IMO said it has recognised a win-win-win situation for grower-exporter, the transportation industry, importer-distributors, and ultimately the retailer-restaurant sector.

“The supply chain control of food illness related to microbes is the critical first step in safe food assurance to the consumer,” IMO explained.

With the help of the IMO, BioShield Services is beginning to look at assisting and partnering with the fresh produce industry around the world.

Will Cavan, Executive Director of the IMO, feels that the Food safety issue is the most important issue facing the fresh produce supply today.

Arne Rotne, the president and founder of BioShield Services, is confident that the IASQ certification will make a huge difference for better quality processes around the world in the fresh produce industry.
