Tozer Seeds has opened a €120,000 trial centre in Murcia, its first outside of the UK. The company said the 12,000m2 facility is already testing several varieties of celery, broccoli, leek, lettuce, cabbage, and baby leaves (rocket, mini kale, spinach, chard, pak choi, sprouts and Kalette).
“We are very excited about the new farm, which is the culmination of two years of work and demonstrates our commitment to the region,” said José Carlo Grajeda of Tozer Ibérica.
“Our intention is to test the improvements we have achieved in the UK in Spain to see how they behave in a Mediterranean climate.”
At the end of last year Tozer embarked on a major marketing push for its kale-sprout hybrid Kalettes and it expects to see strong growth across Europe in the coming years.
