Dutch fresh produce marketer The Greenery is reportedly planning to close its operation in Freshpark Venlo, as it bids to boost efficiency by streamlining its logistics network.
Although the plans have not been finalised, Dutch news website AGF.nl reported that the closure would be implemented in phases with a view to leaving the facility by the summer.
'The closure plans are striking because there are currently more agriculture-related companies in the west `of the Netherlands` which want to move to Venlo,' commented the website.
However, a spokesperson for The Greenery insisted the company intended to maintain close links with the German market and would 'remain active' in the Venlo region, which is well positioned in terms of reaching Germany.
