Dutch fresh produce marketer The Greenery has reached an agreement to sell its subsidiary Mulder Onions.
The deal, which is understood to involve a management buyout led by the supplier’s managing director Gerard Hoekman, represents a continuation of The Greenery’s present strategy of restructuring and streamlining its activities to focus on its core business.
Originally founded in 1903, Breda-based Mulder Onions has been an independent branch of another Greenery-owned produce importer-exporter company, Jover, since 1997.
It produces and trades a range of onions, garlic and potatoes, selling them to supermarkets, pre-packers, wholesalers and processors.
Its customers are reportedly spread across Europe, Africa, the Far East and Central America.
