Dutch fresh produce marketer The Greenery has launched a new convenience pack format for blueberries which it hopes will boost sales of the fruit to consumers looking for fresh and healthy snacks to eat on the go.
The snack packs, which consist of four portions of blueberries in a quartet of individual mini-punnets, are being sold in Germany following their introduction earlier this year.
Each mini-punnet can be broken off from the four-pack, allowing the consumer to leave the others behind.
Speaking at the recent Deutsche Obst & Gemüse Kongress in Düsseldorf, The Greenery’s Maarten van der Boom said the new packs had been well received and would hopefully provide a further boost in a part of the market showing strong levels of demand.
Earlier this year, The Greenery officially opened its new soft fruit distribution centre in Breda, a facility designed to simplify the distribution process and trim related costs.
The new centre, which is equipped with state-of-the-art packing and distribution technology, is located next to The Greenery’s previous facility in Breda’s International Agro Business Centre area.
