The UK's largest food retailer Tesco has announced the launch of several new ranges of fruit and vegetables as it bids to reaffirm its reputation in the fresh produce department.
As reported in the Fresh Produce Journal, the new lines include a Finest Fresh Fruit Platter – made up of Pink Lady apples, strawberries, black grapes and mango – as well as a wider selection of vegetable stir fry bowls including mushroom and Thai-style mixes.
The retailer also said it was winning what it described as an 'uphill struggle' to get children connected with fresh produce.
Citing its newly launched Goodness for Kids apple and grape snack pack as an example, the company said successful new products had contributed to an improvement in sales.
