Tesco is set to open over 130 new stores in central Europe this year, with 30 of those to be located in the Czech Republic.
According to Czech publication Hospodarske Noviny, the 30 Czech outlets will be made up of small-to-medium sized stores with a floor area of around 3,000m².
The expansion, which will take place in mid-sized towns in the country, is expected to aid the group's drive to increase sales of non-food products in the country.
In January, Tesco had reported that Europeansales grew by 24 per cent through the Christmas and New Year period, with growth at constant exchange rates slowing compared with its third quarter -resultswhich Tesco said reflected the economic conditions in parts of central Europe and Ireland.
