Leading UK retailer Tesco is starting to close the gap on its faster-growing competitors, according to market research firm TNS WorldPanel.
The analyst revealed that sales at Tesco increased by 4.2 per cent in the 12 weeks to 4 October, a fraction under the 4.7 per cent growth seen by the grocery sector as a whole.
However, Tesco’s growth remains inferior to its rivals, with Waitrose growing by 11.6 per cent, Morrisons by 8.4 per cent, Asda by 6.6 per cent and Sainsbury’s by 5.7 per cent.
