Major Spanish citrus exporter Terra Group Fruta has revealed it plans to close its Polish subsidiary Terra Group Fruta Polska, one of seven that it currently operates outside Spain.
Speaking to Eurofruit Magazine, a spokesperson for the Castellón-based company confirmed rumours circulating in the European fresh produce sector that the Polish arm of the business, located in Warsaw, was set to cease trading.
However, the spokesperson declined to comment on further speculation that other parts of group could also close.
Although based in Castellón, Valencia, Terra Group operates branches across Spain and has subsidiaries in several other countries, including Italy, Germany, Belarus, France, Morocco and Romania, as well as Poland.
The company exports primarily citrus products, including oranges, clementines, satsumas, grapefruit and lemons, as well as a wide range of other fruits and vegetables, among them tomatoes, stonefruit, salads, berries, grapes and exotics.
