Taylor Farms Foodservice, a leading supplier to in the North American foodservice sector, has announced in a press release the launch of a new line of healthy, fresh produce items for school children.
The so-called Schoolservice line debuts with flagship products of specially formulated, healthy salad mixes including Freestylers Sesame Ginger Slaw Mix, Freestylers Caesar Salad Mix, and Sol-O’s Cinnamon Dusted Carrot Chips.
The products are the result of extensive nutritional research and focus group testing among school age children, according to the company.
“Schoolservice is part of a company-wide commitment of helping kids eat healthy,” the group said in the press release.
“Taylor Farms knows that when kids make food choices, their first consideration is taste. So, we've worked very hard to style healthy produce mixes for young palates. They're nutritious, crunchy, tasty mixes that kids love, and we fulfil our promise to help schools help kids eat healthy.
The Schoolservice line is labelled, portioned and packaged to conform to the serving requirements of the USDA’s National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Additionally, Taylor Farms has published an informational website with detailed nutritional and NSLP serving data for each Schoolservice product.
The site will be updated with new products and healthy, student-tested recipes and menu options.
Taylor Farms Foodservice also revealed it is in negotiations with national foodservice distributors for custom branded Schoolservice offerings sourced by Taylor.
Company officials said they hope to announce further details on Schoolservice partnerships by the end of the second quarter of 2013.
Taylor Farms Foodservice is family-owned and based in Salinas, California, with seven plants and distribution facilities throughout North America and suppliers in countries including Mexico.
