Target Corporation has announced that it will complete remodels of more than 100 stores this month in order to offer a full selection of fresh foods from 25 March onwards.

The revamped stores will be the first of three cycles of remodelling programmes for Target this year, the group said in a news statement.

The remodels will result in each store boasting new 10,000ft2 grocery departments, dedicated to a vast array of fresh food choices, including an assortment of fresh produce, fresh packaged meat and pre-packaged baked goods, in addition to dry and frozen ranges.

Stores scheduled for the March remodel cycle span markets across the US, from Spokane, Washington to Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Target said that nearly 900 of its outlets currently offer the expanded food layout and guest feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“In 2012, we expect to remodel an additional 230 general merchandise Target stores to incorporate the expanded fresh food layout,” the retailer explained.

“Bringing fresh food to Target means our guests only have to make one stop to stock up on all of their essentials,” pointed out Annette Miller, senior vice-president of grocery at Target.

“This year, even more of our guests will experience the added convenience of one-stop shopping as we remodel hundreds of additional Target stores and bring our fresh food layout to markets across the country.”

Target Corp. operates 1,765 stores across the US and plans to open its first outlets in Canada in 2013.
