The Tampa Port Authority has revealed that its port director and chief executive Richard Wainio has been appointed as the new chairman of policy-making group Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development (FSTED) Council.
The Council, which was created within the Department of Transportation, is made up of port directors of the 14 publicly-owned seaports and a representative from the Department of Transportation, the Department of Community Affairs and the Governor's Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development.
'I am honoured to be elected chairman of this important council, and I am eager to work with our state leaders and port directors to provide the leadership and financial resources necessary to better develop Florida's port industry which contributes enormously to the economic well-being of all residents in our great state,' Mr Wainio said.
Mr Wainio and the FSTED are charged with enhancing the state's economic developmentmission by facilitating the implementation of important seaportimprovement projects.
