Freight forwarding and supply chain solutions group Damco has this week revealed that it has appointed Søren Bulow Andersen as head of ocean carrier management for Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa.
In his new role at the logistics arm of Maersk, Mr Andersen will be responsible for the procurement and negotiation process as well as strategic carrier relationships, reporting to global head of oceanfreight Diederick de Vroet.
With more than 25 years experience working for Damco and Maersk Logistics, Mr Andersen has worked across the world in markets such as Australia, Ghana and Denmark.
'I am excited to assume the responsibility for the Europe/Africa region and take on the challenge to roll out the new carrier strategy for 2011,' said Mr Andersen.
'In Damco, we are pleased to promote Søren Bülow Andersen as he has extensive knowledge about the logistics industry and Damco's business processes,' added Mr de Vroet. 'I am sure that Søren will be a great asset in his new role within our global carrier management team going forward.'
