Appointment of Markus Leumann set to take place ahead of Hubert Zufferey’s retirement in September 2025
Markus Leumann is to take over as head of production at the Swiss Fruit Association on 1 July 2025, ahead of Hubert Zufferey’s planned retirement at the end of September.
Leumann, who will join the organisation in May and also take up a seat on the group’s management board, brings plenty of experience to the role, the association said.
“Markus Leumann grew up on a fruit and dairy farm and studied agricultural economics at ETH Zurich,” it stated.
“Leumann brings extensive industry knowledge with him. Among other things, he was head of the Schaffhausen Canton agricultural office, and course and project manager for speciality crops at Agridea.
It also paid tribute to Zufferey. “In recent years, Hubert Zufferey has played a key role in shaping the Swiss Fruit Association’s market support thanks to his excellent industry knowledge.”
Jimmy Mariéthoz, director of the Swiss Fruit Association, added: “We are delighted that we have been able to recruit Markus Leumann, an industry-savvy, highly competent and well-connected personality, as head of production.”
