Dutch innovative test laboratory NSure BV and the founders of TransFresh Chile, experts in controlled atmosphere transport of fresh produce, formally unveiled a new joint venture at this year's Fruit Logistica.
SureTech Chile, based in Santiago de Chile, has been established to introduce NSure’s revolutionary new method for determining the quality of fresh produce to the South American market.
'TransFresh and NSure are natural partners having a mutual goal in providing tools for optimal control of fresh produce quality to their customers,' said a spokesperson for the companies.
TransFresh already serves the South American market with a highly advanced system for controlled atmosphere container transport.
NSure, for its part, has developed an innovative method for determining and predicting batch quality using molecular technology.
'The combination of highly reliable batch quality determination and optimal CA transport conditions is a very powerful tool for producers and shippers,' continued the spokesperson.
Next to commercialising the technology, SureTech will also make use of a state-of-the-art molecular test laboratory in order to perform laboratory analyses according to NSure procedures.
'This will allow for a quick result time for SureTech's customers,' the spokesperson added.
Claudia Mardones, managing director of SureTech, said she was enthusiastic about the new venture's market opportunities.
'Today, South American growers and exporters are in a constant process of bringing quality to a higher level and to increase the overall efficiency,' she explained.
'The NSure technology is a strong tool to help with strategic decisions which will result in a significant improvement of the all fresh produce chain,' she continued. 'This new technology will allow users to differentiate from competitors.'
NSure technology was developed at the Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR) in the Netherlands and acquired by NSure in 2006.
The company is a high-tech laboratory for the agro-food industry, and has proven to be highly successful in translating state-of-the-art bioscience into practical applications.
