SuperValu, the supermarket chain owned by Ireland-based Musgrave, has won the prestigious award of Best Fresh Food Retailer at Checkout magazine's annual ‘Best in Fresh’ awards.
The award, one of eight won by the retailer at the awards ceremony, is 'another acknowledgement of SuperValu’s ongoing commitment to delivering an unbeatable fresh food range to customers while supporting Irish suppliers', the group said.
“We believe in delivering quality fresh food that shoppers can really trust,' said Martin Kelleher, managing director of SuperValu. 'The quality of Irish food is second to none and this award is a real testament to our unwavering commitment to locally sourced produce.
'Our sourcing policy means that we buy Irish whenever possible, making SuperValu the number one retail supporter of the Irish food industry,' he added. 'As the only retailer in the country which offers fully qualified butchers, fishmongers, bakers and fresh food experts in every store, SuperValu is the brand that sets the benchmark for others to follow.'
