South Africa's Perishable Products Export Council Board (PPECB) has appointed Stuart Symington as its new CEO.
For10 years, Symington has worked setting up trade relationships between South Africa and other countries in his role as CEO of the Fresh ProduceExporters' Forum.
He developed strong ties with countries such asGermany, Hong Kong, India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, the UK and the USA.
Alongside his duties he has also used his leadership skills to help the industry as a whole as a member or chairman of a number of industry boards including the Government's Agricultural Produce Agency Council (APAC) and the NationalMarketing Council (NAMC).
Chairperson of the PPECB Board, Louis Vorster, said: 'The Board is satisfied that we have found in Stuart exactly what we have been looking for - an individual with strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of the regulatory environment, government priorities, transformational imperatives and thedynamics associated with the export industry.
'We are confident that Stuart will lead the team to the next level of performance, ensuring the PPECB serves the industry by positioning itself as an internationally respected certification agency, thereby instilling confidence in South Africa's produce.'
