Russia's two largest grocery chains have reported on positive third quarters this month, with sales growth at both X5 Retail Group and Magnit.
The general increase is a result of increased consumer spending, the knock-on effect of a recovery in the local economy, Kam City reported.
X5 said that sales jumped 24 per cent to some US$2.6bn through the third quarter, with like-for-like sales up 6 per cent and customer traffic up 4 per cent.
Magnit, meanwhile, saw like-for-like sales rise by 12.4 per cent, accelerating from the 7.4 per cent growth reported through the second quarter, while customer traffic climbed 6.2 per cent.
