Peruvian blueberry exports jumped 60 per cent in 2014 according to figures from the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), reaching US$27.8m. The volume of blueberries shipped increased by 73 per cent to 2,600 tonnes.
With a 41 per cent share of the total volume, the US was the main export market, followed by the Netherlands (24 per cent) and Hong Kong (21 per cent).
Carlos Garcia of CCL’s Centre for Foreign Trade said exporters had opened up a new markets last year including Thailand, Indonesia and Russia.
