Peruvian mango exports increased by 27.2 per cent in the first eight months of 2014 to US$119.9m, according to exporter association Adex.
The leading export destination for Peruvian mangoes is the Netherlands (US$44.6m), followed by the US (US$39.2m). Adex noted that “85 per cent of the total mango production is concentrated in Piura,” a northwestern city of Peru.
The fruit ranks fourth within the nation’s agricultural and agribusiness subsector after avocados (12 per cent of total shipments), grapes (9 per cent) and asparagus (8 per cent).
