International coffee house chain Starbucks Corp says it plans to add salads to its menu by the end of June as part of a new programme to increase the number of healthy items it offers to customers.
'Food has been the Achilles' heel of the company,' Michelle Gass, the group's executive vice-president of marketing told Reuters. 'That statement will be long buried after we launch this programme.'
The company's new campaign, which will be launched under the tagline 'Real Food. Simply Delicious', echoes a number of healthy eating projects being rolled out by operators in the quick-service restaurant sector, for example McDonald's and KFC.
